I am dr. ir. Roeland de Kat, associate professor at the Netherlands Defence Academy.
My research interests range from experimental fluid mechanics to advanced optical fluid flow diagnostics and from vortices to feathered flight.
I obtained my doctorate from Delft University of Technology in 2012 for my thesis entitled “Instantaneous planar pressure determination from particle image velocimetry.”
Before joining the NLDA, I was at the University of Southampton as a research fellow in 2011, a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow (2014–2017), a New Frontiers Fellow (2017) and a Lecturer (2018–2019). Currently, I also am a visiting fellow to the University of Southampton.
